Diabetes management in low and middle income countries

Low and middle income countries (LMIC) carry 80% of the burden of diabetes, and more than 60% of all people with diabetes in the world live in Asia. Successful management of diabetes is necessary to reduce complications of diabetes and improve quality of life of people with diabetes. This thesis explored the impact of diabetes on disability, examined trends of diabetes management in a number of low-middle income countries. Findings from this thesis should be used to inform policies that will improve the health and management of diabetes in LMIC.
