Pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs) have emerged as a group of contaminants that are found in many environmental matrices. These compounds enter the waterways mainly through the effluent of wastewater treatment plants. This project was part of the inaugural Chemicals and Plastics Manufacturing Innovation Network and Training Program. Focused on the development of separation and mass spectrometry strategies for PPCPs, the PhD researcher worked with an industry partner. This project investigated some of the applications of the industry partner’s products for trace environmental analysis of PPCPs.
