The rapid emergence of e-waste as one of the fastest-growing solid waste streams worldwide necessitates effective e-waste management and value recovery operations. Therefore, this thesis examines these two crucial aspects of e-waste recycling to elevate its economic significance and ensure a circular economy. A reverse logistic approach consisting of a smart e-waste collection system which integrates the Internet of Things (IoT) was developed for better management of household e-waste in developing countries. Processing techniques employing coarse printed circuit boards are incorporated with pre-treatment methods to improve copper extraction. Excessive size reduction is avoided thus reducing operating costs.
