In this thesis, we have designed, fabricated, and characterised microcapsules templated from graphene oxide (GO)-stabilized Pickering emulsions, generating composites with polymers and silica. We explored the utility of these hybrid materials for protecting, delivering, andc sustaining the release of active materials, and separately for adsorption and concentration of toxins from dilute systems. Cargo materials included model dyes and fragrances, and captured materials focused on fluorinated contaminant adsorption. Atomic force microscopy (AFM), SEM, TEM, optical microscopy, fluorescence microscopy and polarizing optical microscopy were used to characterize the obtained microcapsules.
