The water cycle (evaporation, precipitation and the transport of water vapour in the atmosphere) is an important part of the climate system. Understanding the water cycle and its changes with climate change, however, is far from trivial using existing climate models. This thesis develops a simple model for the water cycle as part of a simple global climate model and shows its application in a range of experiments.
