What is the self and what role does it play in explaining how persons act and experience their lives? This thesis attempts to answer these questions through a critique of widely-accepted narrative accounts of self-formation and concludes that the best answer to them is provided by describing the self and lived experience in terms of the meaningful relations that constitute a life.
