Design and optimization of gas diffusion electrodes for electrocatalytic CO2 reduction

During my PhD study, the scope of focus has been on catalyst design and synthesis, and electrode engineering for the ECO2RR. This has been carried out in combination with in situ Raman, quasi-in situ X-ray adsorption spectroscopy analysis and computational studies in order to explore ECO2RR mechanisms. A novel and general hydrophobic graded strategy for controlling the spatial-hydrophobicity distribution on a gas diffusion layer provides catalyst support for durable ECO2RR under a flow cell system. Nano-engineered materials have received significant attention for ECO2RR application in both neutral and alkaline media.
