Photocatalytic reduction of carbon dioxide to generate renewable fuels is a promising avenue for mitigating the energy crisis and climate change. However, this technology still suffers from low photoconversion efficiency and selectivity, which limits its practicality. This thesis addresses these issues by developing a highly efficient photocatalytic system based on graphitic carbon nitride semiconducting material. For this purpose, various modification strategies are used to improve the photocatalytic efficiency of graphitic carbon nitride.
