Daily physical activity is reduced in patients with Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and is associated with conventional markers of disease progression. Annual physical activity has a proportionally larger decline than lung function. Although baseline physical activity was a poor predictor of 12 month transplant free survival, a daily step count of >= 3531 steps is associated with increased survival.
