The purpose of this doctoral study is to contribute to the currently limited understanding of large organisations’ transition from on-premise ERP systems to cloud in a developing country context. The adoption decision-making process has been analysed as an organisational change to answer the research questions investigating the what, why, and how of such a change. Corporate-level and Senior IT Managers alike were interviewed from four significant large organisations from Bangladesh. The data-driven theoretical framework, Structuration in the adoption decision-making process, combines the nature of, reasons for and purposes of making transition decisions. Outcomes have implications for both research and practice.
