Critical Thinking Practice and Development Approaches in EFL Tertiary Speaking Courses in Vietnam

This study presents the findings of a qualitative case study conducted in X University in Vietnam. The study aimed to investigate (1) how the teachers and students understood critical thinking (CT), and what they considered to be the teaching and learning approaches and the activities that developed CT in tertiary English speaking courses; (2) how CT was explicitly or implicitly presented, taught and practised in tertiary English speaking courses at X University; and (3) what were the participants’ perspectives and suggestions about building students’ practice and potential development in CT in tertiary English speaking courses at X University.
