Between 1975 and 2015 print journalists in Australia experienced an unprecedented period of change in terms of technology, culture and security of employment. In order to better understand this critical period of journalism history this thesis examines the lived experience of nine Melbourne journalists. Using an oral history approach, the research utilises life history as well as career history interviews to provide a broader context to the journalistic experience of change and to form a meaningful portrait of journalists at work.
