thesis

The study explores the development of imagination and science concept formation in toddlers using Conceptual PlayWorld, a model of teaching concepts through imaginary play in early childhood. The study observes toddlers in an early childhood centre in Australia participating in play experiences with educators and other toddlers. The findings demonstrate that the use of props such as toys, costumes, storybooks and pictures encouraged the toddlers to participate in imaginary play and learn various science concepts. The study contributes to the less focused area of research on toddlers' development of imagination and concept formation and informs the early childhood practice and pedagogy.
