A series of chiral ligands were synthesised by attaching amino acids onto an aromatic core group. These ligands, with negatively charge carboxylate groups, were combined with positively charged transition metal ions, to form a series of metallosupramolecular compounds. The core of the ligand, the amino acid, the synthetic conditions and the metal used were all shown to have an influence on the compounds which were formed.
