thesis
posted on 2024-11-17, 00:05 authored by Aizi Chang
This thesis examines how Chinese feminists navigate and respond to challenges in the online environment. It investigates the strategies Chinese feminists use on social media platforms like Weibo, WeChat, and Douyin to maintain their activism despite strict censorship. The study, conducted between 2020 and 2024, combines qualitative and quantitative methods, including case studies and interviews. Findings show that Chinese feminists use digital tools to challenge gender norms and raise awareness about gender inequality and violence. This research highlights the adaptive strategies of Chinese feminists and provides insights for activists facing state and commercial challenges.
