Characteristics of Osteochondral Grafts for the Management of Dorsal Fracture Dislocations of the Proximal Interphalangeal Joints of the Fingers

thesis

Dislocations of the proximal interphalangeal joints of the fingers with concurrent fractures of the middle phalanx base are challenging clinical presentations, often leading to significant morbidity. These injuries can be treated by taking a small piece of bone from elsewhere on the body as a graft to reconstruct the defect. Through completing a systematic review of the literature, together with radiological and clinical studies we looked at the most effective way to reconstruct these injuries, improving the amount of movement that is possible following these injuries and reducing the associated morbidity.
