Changes in psychological functioning of mature age students as a consequence of undertaking tertiary studies

The aim of this study was to explore whether psychological changes occurred in students, 25 years and over, during their first two years of study. Questionnaires were distributed to first year students enrolled in Social and Behavioural Studies, Business, and Computing and Information Systems at Chisholm Institute of Technology, all of whom completed the initial questionnaire. Those students 25 years and over were willing to participate constituted three student groups. Friends of the students, similar in age, sex and marital status, but not studying, constituted the control group.
