This thesis focuses on a beginning teacher's first four years of practice in an Indigenous community in Australia. An auto-ethnographic study was conducted to explore teaching practice in such a context, focusing on my evolving dispositions toward 'social justice' and seeking to 'do good' through a teaching role. Through the work of Karen Martin's work 'Please Knock Before You Enter' and the notion of Third Space, four aspects of relational praxis are proposed as beginning points for non-Indigenous teachers seeking to decolonise their own practice and reduce the othering in the classroom.
