Catalytic Role of Waste Tyre Char in the Upgrading of Biomass Pyrolytic Bio-Oil

thesis
posted on 2023-04-19, 21:09 authored by ALIREZA ZAREI
This research aims to investigate and improve the catalytic capability of tyre char, an otherwise low-value waste, as an effective catalyst for upgrading bio-oil derived from the pyrolysis of eucalyptus wood chips. Efforts are specifically made to tailor the tyre char properties to improve the catalyst capability in bio-oil deoxidisation as well as its selectivity in production of value-added bio-chemical in bio-oil. Experiments are carried out in a two-stage fixed-bed reactor in the absence and presence of steam at different heating rates.
