CFD Investigation of the Injection of Victorian Brown Coal into an Ironmaking Blast Furnace

An industry-scale 3D CFD model is successfully developed to simulate the complicated in-furnace combustion phenomena with the injection of Victorian brown coal in PCI operation, aiming to study the possibility of replacing the relatively expensive black coal with the upgraded Victorian brown coal in PCI operation in an ironmaking blast furnace, and provide scientific evidence to guide the industry on the utilization and optimization of upgraded brown coal in PCI.
