By-products from laser-material interactions in laser powder bed fusion of metal powders

This thesis studies the by-products in laser additive manufacturing of metal powders. It reveals the detrimental effects of the vapour plume and spatters on the part integrity and develops process control methods to reduce the defects and improve the mechanical properties of the metal parts.
