This thesis examines the bus maintenance, roadworthy, and safety performance in Victoria, Australia. It develops an in-depth understanding of the distinctive patterns as well as the influential factors of these outcomes. It also evaluates the relative performance of bus operators and offers the baseline against which operators can benchmark. These results provide evidence base for safety regulators to update regulatory regimes and equip practitioners in the field with tangible guidance to enhance the reliability and safety of bus operations.
