The built environment affects people’s mobility, transport choice, mental and physical health. The way people live in cities and their interaction with the built environment and transportation infrastructure reshapes every day. Therefore, a city is a site of interconnected problems, considering a balance between people’s changing needs and infrastructure. COVID-19 pandemic provides an opportunity to challenge how we think about land-use, transportation networks and people’s interaction with them. As there are different spatial characteristics and population distribution in each neighbourhood, the response to COVID-19 restrictions may be varied across different neighbourhoods. The guiding research question of my research is: "what is the relationship between neighbourhood characteristics, demographics and active mobility during the COVID-19 pandemic?"
