This thesis is about social work field education in PNG, including the role of global social work field education standards, from the perspectives of social work educators and students in PNG. The central theme of connectedness emerged as an important from the data, highlighting three key areas to address to ensure the development of a culturally relevant field education curriculum. These are: connecting global-local issues; connecting global-local policies and standards; connecting universities and local communities; and connecting contemporary and local teaching and learning approaches.
