Building Resilient Communities in Pakistan: The Role of Public Relations in Natural Disasters

thesis
posted on 2022-12-21, 23:01 authored by MUHAMMAD SHAHID IMRAN
This thesis provides much-needed insight into building resilient communities in natural disasters through public relations. It primarily uses qualitative methods to explore the perspectives of communities and PROs, while investigating the role of sociocultural contexts. The study’s findings raise intriguing questions about the concept of resilience for stakeholders in Pakistan, a nation experiencing rising death tolls and economic losses due to disasters, while pointing to the wider evolving concept of resilience in a period of unprecedented anthropogenic challenges, including a global pandemic. This thesis makes a valuable contribution to the field on a critically underexamined topic, given limited scholarship on PR in building resilience, with no prior research conducted in Pakistan.
