Sarcopenia, an age-related decline in muscle mass and strength, and obesity, commonly co-occur in older adults, a condition known as sarcopenic obesity. Sarcopenic obesity has adverse effects on musculoskeletal health. This thesis examines how sarcopenic obesity contributes to poor musculoskeletal health with a specific focus on bone health, falls and fractures. This thesis provides insights which can be translated into community-based programs and public health recommendations for older adults who are at risk of disability due to sarcopenic obesity.
