Overexposure to the sun causes undesirable skin photoaging. To circumvent this, the anti-photoaging properties of Swietenia macrophylla King seeds was investigated. The ethanolic extract was discovered to have anti-pigmentation properties, which as suggested by docking studies, could be contributed by the limonoids within it. Next, the hexane fraction had anti-UVB photoprotective properties, while the ethyl acetate fraction had anti-inflammatory and anti-collagen degrading properties. The water fraction is also an antioxidant and skin repair and regenerative agent. Thus, this demonstrates that S. macrophylla seeds have vast potential as an anti-photoaging ingredient and can be developed into various products in the future.
