Bioprospecting of Streptomyces species derived from mangrove soil for chemopreventive properties

This thesis examines a group of bacteria named as ‘Streptomyces’ which possess the ability to produce bioactive substances that can be developed into future anticancer drug. This thesis identifies the Streptomyces bacteria from soil collected from mangrove forest in Malaysia and evaluates the ability of their bioactive substances in killing and halting the growth of cancer cells.
