Belonging amongst National Committee students at The United World College of South East Asia: A new model of belonging for students in international high schools

An investigation into the enablers and inhibitors of a sense of belonging amongst National Committee students at The United World College of South East Asia. By using a mixed method approach, low levels of belonging were found amongst an entire grade 11 cohort of students as well as several factors which inhibit and enable a sense of belonging. Literature suggesting traditional notions of belonging may not apply to this population are discussed and a new model of belonging is described and applied.
