Behaviour and Design of Lightweight Concrete-filled Cold-formed Built-up Box Section Columns under Axial Compression

thesis
posted on 2024-07-12, 08:09 authored by KEAT BIN TEOH
Cold-formed steel (CFS) sections have surged in popularity within practical engineering applications due to their lightweight nature and versatility but have suffered from premature buckling failure. This thesis investigates lightweight steel–concrete composite compression members made from CFS and lightweight concrete. These members are tailored for integration into light gauge framing systems and modular construction, aiming to propel advancements in affordable housing solutions. The thesis presents design methodologies and recommendations that can be served as reliable tools for practitioners and facilitate informed design decisions.
