Association of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus with Cognitive Function and Overall Wellbeing of Older Adults in Malaysia

This thesis examines the link between type 2 diabetes (T2DM) and cognitive decline in older adults in Seremban, Malaysia. It finds that T2DM is significantly associated with mental decline, with overweight, diabetic individuals at increased risk. Depression is also a contributing factor, affecting both diabetics and non-diabetics. The study underscores the importance of regular health monitoring and highlights how education, gender, and lifestyle impact cognitive health. The findings suggest the need for improved care strategies to enhance the quality of life for Malaysia's ageing diabetic population and call for further research into intervention methods.
