Are We All in This Together? The Role of Solidarity in the Realisation of Human Rights

thesis
posted on 2025-04-10, 07:56 authored by Karin Maria Frode
This thesis examines the concept of solidarity in international human rights law. The specific focus of the inquiry is whether the development of so-called ‘solidarity rights’ may contribute to efforts to combat global challenges, such as climate change, pandemics and conflict. It ties this analysis to a broader theoretical examination of the concept of solidarity and considers what we may learn from other traditions and moments of solidarity, notably struggles which united peoples and states of the Global South who have also largely driven contemporary efforts for the development of solidarity rights.
