This PhD project aims to develop sample preparation techniques, chromatography and mass spectrometry approaches to analyse PPCPs in different environmental matrices. This research also optimises and develops various parameters for different LC/MS systems which can be used to identify and quantify PPCPs in different environmental samples. Different LC columns are tested to be used for PPCPs separation. Carryover, which is a problem related to the separation, is also investigated in this project. Two of most advanced LC/MS system were compared in terms of detection limit, mass accuracy and their capability to perform the analysis in positive and negative modes.
