Antigen-specific T cells in Autoimmune Glomerulonephritis

thesis
posted on 2018-10-22, 01:55 authored by MEGAN HUYNH
Specialised immune cells called T cells are known to mistakenly recognise a protein in the body as foreign and cause disease. This thesis underscores the contribution of these cells in autoimmune kidney disease and suggests new treatments that specifically act on the T cells, such as by blocking their activity, or activating other immune cells with regulatory function that can inhibit the T cells. These techniques act in a targeted manner and can improve on current treatments that suppress the entire immune system.
