Neuroblastoma and glioblastoma are primary brain and nervous system cancers in adults and children, respectively. Both of the malignancies contribute to substantial mortality annually. In this regard, curcumin extracts from turmeric with reported anti-tumour properties against various types of cancer might serve as a potential chemotherapeutic drug that targets these malignancies. However, its poor bioavailability curtails its potential utility as an anti-cancer agent. This thesis presents the potent anti-cancer effects exhibited by a diarylpentanoid, a curcumin analogue on both neuroblastoma and glioblastoma cells and further highlights the therapeutic potential of the diarylpentanoid in treating brain malignancies in the future.
