Blockchain is the technology behind cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, enabling secure financial transactions without the need for a central authority, such as banks. The second generation of blockchain systems, like Ethereum, expand blockchain's application beyond finance using a feature known as smart contracts. However, to realise the full potentials of blockchain technology and implement it in sectors such as healthcare, transportation, and supply chain, we need to connect the blockchain network to real-world information sources such as websites and sensors. In this thesis, we explore connecting blockchain with real-world data sources using decentralised network of information oracles. Our research enhances the accuracy of these oracle networks and addresses their vulnerabilities, ultimately improving the reliability of the information provided to blockchain smart contracts about real-world events.
