This thesis explores drivers' visual fatigue in assisted vehicles, focusing on challenges from switching focus between the road, in-vehicle interfaces, and the head-up display (HUD). Three experiments were conducted: comparing HUD and human-machine interface effectiveness, simulating brightness switching patterns, and studying the impact of visual focus distance and context on mental fatigue. A multi-focal plane HUD design was proposed and validated, improving drivers' reaction time and attention capture, enhancing driving safety and experience.
