Analysis of Electrical Breakdown Influenced by the Statistics of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) Signals

Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is a modulation method used in many broadcasting services, including the European digital video broadcasting-terrestrial (DVB-T) standard for digital television. Electrical breakdown in the filter at the output of the DVB-T transmitter interrupts the broadcasting and causes damage to transmission equipment. An Australian manufacturer conducted breakdown tests of power filters and found that the results were not as expected and not well understood. This project provides a good understanding of these experimental results.
