Research into the shear capacity of reinforced concrete beams has occurred for over 100 years and still continues today. The reason for the research is that the shear failure process of beams is not fully understood. Past research has identified some factors which may affect the shear capacity of beams. These factors include among others the shear span ratio, amount of shear reinforcement, beam geometry, concrete strength and yield strength of reinforcement.[...]
