The research in this thesis addresses the global public health issue of falls and falls-related injury among community-dwelling older adults. The findings contribute new knowledge on the epidemiological, policy and health system determinants of public health and public policy approaches to falls prevention. The outcome of this research is a new evidence-based and co-designed policy framework and systems approach for its implementation. This thesis aims to increase the capacity of policy makers and researchers to advance the public health approach to falls and falls-related injury in the community.
