School Mathematics Leaders hold key responsibilities for improving mathematics teaching and learning in schools. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of School Mathematics Leaders when supporting teachers to extend their knowledge and skills for teaching mathematics by facilitating and encouraging teacher professional growth. Continued professional learning is important if teachers are to improve their practice in order to help students succeed in mathematics. Evidence showed support for teachers occurred through productive learning opportunities created by School Mathematics Leaders in collaborative team meetings and classrooms, confirming the important role they play in improving mathematics teaching and learning.
