An Investigation of Children’s and Parents’ Perceptions of Engineers and Engineering

thesis
posted on 2023-11-02, 12:14 authored by MIRANDA MING GE
Children are natural-born engineers (Cunningham et al., 2020). Leveraging on children’s intrinsic characteristics by sowing the seeds for engineering education at the primary level through both the school and home environments, can help families gain deeper understandings of the importance and meaning of the engineering occupation. The cultivation of early interest and knowledge in engineering can act as the “interdisciplinary glue”, weaving together the humanities and STEM but more importantly, develop a variety of fundamental and transferable life skills, which are invaluable in every industry.
