An Economic Evaluation of Quality Improvements in Cardiac Care

thesis
posted on 2022-03-22, 02:16 authored by Peter Lee
Cardiac clinical quality registries (CQRs) collect data for the purposes of monitoring quality of care and providing feedback to improve health outcomes. Despite global acknowledgement of the utility of CQRs in improving clinical outcomes through quality improvement, benchmarking and research, few studies have assessed the costs and benefits attributed to registries themselves. A series of analyses were performed using different methodologies to explore the cost and clinical impacts of improvements in clinical practice attributed to cardiac CQRs. The findings support further investment in cardiac CQRs, as well as the refinement of registries to facilitate research using real-world data
