The ability of 8-hydroxyquinoline (OQ) ligands to bind in monodentate, bidentate and bridging modes with one or more metals offers the possible formation of multinuclear complexes especially with lanthanoids . Therefore 8-hydroxyquinoline and its derivatives have potential as fluorescent materials and single molecule magnets (SMM) . However, the low solubility of the lanthanoid complexes, makes it a challenge to prepare homoleptic/heterobimetallic complexes and especially to get a single crystals. In this regard, a series of mono-, di- and trinuclear homoleptic and heterobimetallic lanthanoid complexes were successfully synthesised and characterised . Here, we report the synthesis, structure, and magnetism of lanthanoid complexes with 8-hydroxyquinoline derivatives.
