Advanced Data-Driven Techniques to Improve Visibility and Models of Power Distribution Networks

posted on 2023-09-27, 01:28 authored by MUHAMMAD ABU BAKR SIDDIQUE PENGWAH
Power distribution networks are undergoing a significant transformation with the rapid uptake of distributed energy resources (DERs), such as rooftop solar, battery storage systems, and electrification of transport and heating systems. To enable efficient uptake and utilization of distribution networks and DERs, better visibility of low-voltage and medium-voltage networks and their assets is required. This thesis aims to explore the applications of smart meter measurements in estimating the distribution network model and subsequent functionalities. In this thesis, several novel approaches are proposed to resolve issues related to the limited visibility of distribution networks.
