Rainfall data is an integral resource for effective water management and flood prevention. The current quantity and resolution of rainfall data available worldwide is lacking for effective water management. Improving the spatial resolution of rainfall is costly, and rainfall estimations through rainfall acoustics have been shown to have good but imperfect performances. However, studies found differences in location and surfaces will impact the accuracy of rainfall estimation. This thesis looks into how different types of surfaces impact rainfall acoustics by studying the rainfall acoustics generated by different surfaces under the same weather conditions.
