Achieving Personal and Professional Sustainability in Emergency Nursing: A Grounded Theory Study

Gilny’s study considers how Indonesian emergency nurses sustain themselves personally and professionally in their work and care. Using both constructivist grounded theory methodology and situational analysis, Gilny constructed a substantive grounded theory entitled: Achieving personal and professional sustainability. The theory explained a number of strategies used by emergency nurses and the social processes of being sustainable. The theory will contribute to further improvement in the sustainability of the emergency nursing workforce and has important implications for emergency nursing practice, nursing education, nursing management, and future research.
