This study answers the decades-long question on establishing a complete link between fabric anisotropy evolution and macroscopic responses of granular materials to deliver a sufficient explanation of how the fabric anisotropy governs the macro-behaviour of granular materials, and to develop a unified constitutive model considering fabric anisotropy evolution to fully capture both monotonic and cyclic behaviours of clean and silty sands.
