This thesis is a simulation model of the production system at the Queensland Glass Manufacturers Company. The model treats the production process as a series of interrelated activities and queues which involve different probabilities or elements of risk. The production process which is studied includes production scheduling and the manufacture of finished bottles. This process is analysed under non behavioural and behavioural constraints. The behavioural input is randomly generated by evaluating each of the four senior executives against six criteria which give a comprehensive review of the company’s performance. The output of the model is a production schedule for the glass tank for which the programming and manufacturing decisions account for the vast bulk of the decisions involved in running the business.Predictions were made for the growth f the business and production schedules were obtained for three years. The schedules for years 1 and 3 were studied in detail. Two schedules, a behavioural and non behavioural schedule, were produced for each year. The results were analysed and were found to closely approximate reality for year 1 and to closely correspond with the predictions made for year 3.
