A generalised constitutive model for unsaturated compacted soils considering wetting/drying cycles and environmentally stabilised line within the MPK framework

In order to distinguish essays and pre-prints from academic theses, we have a separate category. These are often much longer text based documents than a paper.
This thesis develops a novel constitutive model for unsaturated compacted soils, incorporating the traditional compaction curves. Dubbed as generalised MPK model, it couples hydraulic and mechanical behaviour incorporating environmental stabilisation concepts and strain accumulation upon wet-dry cycles. The model was validated by reproducing a range of phenomenological observations for isotropic and triaxial stress states both qualitatively and quantitatively.
